Colorado Terror Attack: Pro-Hamas Illegal Immigrant Injures 8 Jews with ‘Makeshift Flamethrower’

June 2, 2025

Only 11 days after a pro-Hamas radical shot and killed a young Israeli couple outside a Jewish museum in Washington, D.C., another pro-Hamas agitator in Boulder, Colo. attacked a group of Jews with what the FBI described as “a makeshift flame thrower.” After a brief standoff with passersby, the perpetrator surrendered to police, but not before the illegal immigrant from Egypt sent eight elderly Jews, including a Holocaust survivor, to the hospital with burn wounds.

The victims had assembled on the Pearl Street pedestrian mall in downtown Boulder for a regular, weekly march in memory of the Israeli hostages still held by Hamas for nearly two years after their massive terror incursion on October 7, 2023. The Jews who marched “were in the park yesterday, as they are every week, to remind their fellow citizens of the plight of Hamas’s most suffering victims — the Israelis [Hamas] has been holding hostage for more than 600 days,” said Caroline Glick, an advisor to Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu. The march was facilitated by a local chapter of “Run for their Lives.”

Suddenly, the marchers found themselves running for their own lives. Jean Unger, another member of the march, didn’t pay attention when she heard shouts of “Free Palestine,” because she said it was normal for the group of 25 to 30 marchers to meet with counter-protestors. “Next thing I saw was big flames, from behind me,” Unger recalled. “There was a woman on fire, and people rushing to try and help her, and other people had flames on their legs.”

“Witnesses reported that the suspect used a makeshift flame thrower and threw an incendiary device into the crowd. The suspect was also heard to yell ‘Free Palestine’ during the attack,” the FBI recorded. “After receiving updated information, law enforcement officials have now identified eight victims: Four women and four men ages 52 to 88 were taken to Denver metro hospitals.” As of Monday morning, authorities had not provided a status update on the victims.

Bystanders called police at 1:26 p.m. local time, and officers arrived six minutes later. They found a shirtless man facing off with bystanders, dual-wielding what appear to be his “makeshift flamethrowers.” According to video footage posted to social media, these appear to be glass bottles containing alcohol, which he held as anyone would hold a spray bottle. Presumably, he had devised a way to both spray and ignite the alcohol at the same time.

When a police officer approached with his weapon drawn, the shirtless man lay down and surrendered. Police later identified him as Mohamed Sabry Soliman, a 45-year-old native of Egypt. They found 14 more Molotov cocktails inside a black container nearby.

Soliman arrived in the U.S. on August 27, 2022 on a non-immigrant visa. His visa expired on February 2, 2023, but he did not leave the country. On September 9, 2022, he filed a claim with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and he received work authorization on March 29, 2023, which was valid until this past March.

White House advisor Stephen Miller characterized Soliman’s situation thus: “A terror attack was committed in Boulder, Colorado by an illegal alien. He was granted a tourist visa by the Biden Administration and then he illegally overstayed that visa. In response, the Biden Administration gave him a work permit.”

Soliman was initially charged with a litany of offenses, including first-degree murder, crimes against the elderly, assault, and the use of an incendiary device during a felony. He is being held on a $10 million bond.

Soliman also faces federal hate crime charges after admitting to law enforcement officers that he wanted to kill Zionists and would repeat the attack if he could. The FBI announced it is investigating the attack “as a targeted act of terrorism.”

Sunday’s attack came hours before the Jewish holiday of Shavuot, also known as the Feast of Weeks (Leviticus 23:15) or Pentecost (Acts 2:1). This festival, held 50 days after Passover, was one of three main festivals established by Moses (Deuteronomy 16:16) and is associated with Moses receiving the law on Mount Sinai.

In addition to timing the attack to coincide with a Jewish holiday, Soliman also said that he waited to carry out the attack until after his daughter’s high school graduation.

American Israeli officials quickly connected the anti-Semitic attack to false media reports that Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers have shot Gazan civilians seeking humanitarian aid.

“Yesterday morning, Hamas disseminated its slanderous claim that Israel killed 31 people at an aid distribution center. And by the time the IDF finished its investigation into the allegations and was able to definitively deny them, the slander had been the top story by nearly every major news outlet in the U.S. and Europe for nearly a day,” complained Glick, a senior Israeli advisor. “CNN, BBC, Sky News, NBC and their comrades all breathlessly disseminate the blood libel immediately and without question … and in the evening, a Hamas wannabe in Boulder, CO repeats the blood libel he saw on CNN and torches a group of Jews gathered in the park.”

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee also weighed in. “Reckless and irresponsible reporting by major U.S. news outlets are contributing to the antisemitic climate that has resulted in the murder of two young people at an Israeli Embassy event in Washington last month and the attempted murder and terror attack on a group of pro-Israel demonstrators in Colorado on Sunday,” he said. “Without verification of any source other than Hamas and its collaborators, the New York Times, CNN, and Associated Press reported that a number of people seeking to receive humanitarian food boxes from the Gaza Humanitarian Fund were shot or killed by the Israeli Defense Forces. These reports were FALSE.”

Since October 7, left-wing activists have chanted their desire to “Globalize the Intifada” against Jews and eliminate the state of Israel “by any means necessary.” On Sunday, Mohamed Soliman globalized the Intifada against elderly Jews in the suburbs of Denver by means of homemade firebombs and flamethrowers.
