Miss Florida Takes Courageous Stand for Biblical View on Gender

February 22, 2026

Look out world, Kayleigh Bush, has made her debut! This beauty queen has become a national name, not only for her outer glamourous looks, but more importantly, for holding true to her inner moral convictions.

Crowned Miss Florida in 2025, Miss Bush made the courageous decision to reject pressure from the Miss America pageant to sign a contract stating language to the effect that boys can be girls and vice versa. She refused and as a result, was not able to compete in the Miss America pageant, and as she describes it, her crown was thus taken away from her.

While this took place last year, it’s made recent headlines thanks in large part to a TMZ interview with Miss Bush that has gone viral, and gained Miss Bush a fan support from conservatives for staying true to her Christians values. This kind of backbone is what we need to see more of in America.

In Galatians, Paul wrote: “If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.” For those of us who profess Christianity, this is a pretty straight-forward message to understand. In short, it means that even if it costs us favor with the world, we must stay true to the word of God. Period. Yet, when it comes to biblical marriage, it appears that too many with public influence are able to resist secular public pressure to redefine marriage other than solely between a woman and a man.

We sadly saw this with Chip and Joanna Gaines last July when they released their pilot television series, “Back to the Frontier,” and the HGTV stars shockingly portrayed two men in a homosexual relationship raising young twin brothers together as a normal family. To make matters worse, Chip Gaines then clapped back in a defensive, testy X post when loyal followers expressed how they felt betrayed by the couple who have touted their church ties since the beginning of their stardom; never mind that the Gaines’s owe their global popularity — and wealth — to a large fan base that is well-known to be Christians.

Chick-fil-A is another casualty that has aligned with the world’s ungodly definition of marriage and followed in the Gaines’s steps. Specifically, a Utah-based franchise brazenly used its social media platform not long ago to post photos of two homosexual men holding and hugging each other with the caption, “CONGRATULATIONS TO THE HAPPY COUPLE! Dougie & Toby recently got married and we are beyond happy for them! (ring emoji).”

Much like the Gaines’s, the Chick-fil-A food franchise too has become a favorite for conservative-leaning consumers (due in large part to how the food franchise earned Christians’ respect for famously closing its doors on Sundays to honor the Sabbath). But the approval of the secular world seems to now matter more. It’s a shame this happened.

Christians are called to be the salt and light of the world; not falter nor kowtow to secular demands which bring forth death and destruction. (Make no mistake, societal acceptance of same-sex relationships is the death knell to the nuclear family and will ultimately destroy a nation.)

What’s more is that when Christians with cultural and marketplace influence courageously do stand for truth and then are bashed for doing so, favor and popularity only grow among those whose opinions matter. For proof, we can look back to Phil Robertson as an example.

Who can forget when Mr. Robertson, former mega reality TV star, now deceased, famously sparked major national headlines for an interview he granted to CQ Magazine back in 2013 in which he spoke honestly and bluntly about the sinful consequences of the homosexual lifestyle? As a result, the outrage and fierce backlash from the Left against him was instant, as were the calls for Mr. Robertson to be suspended from his hit A&E show “Duck Dynasty.”

But to the delight of fellow Christians, Phil didn’t flinch. Even though “Duck Dynasty” was at its peak in popularity with millions of viewers tuning in weekly to watch the family clan, Mr. Robertson, the patriarch, stood his ground and didn’t retreat one iota, and in classic Phil Robertson folksy style, his rebuttal to the ambush of hate directed toward him was: “All I did was quote from the scriptures.”

This is the kind of example that those who declare themselves Christian should aspire to follow.

It is also worth noting that when Phil Robertson made his controversial comments, those hostile to Christian beliefs held the upper hand in the political, cultural, and government spheres. Barack Obama was president, and the Supreme Court was just two years away from its horrific Obergefell v. Hodges ruling against state laws to protect natural marriage. In other words, many Bible-believing Americans felt isolated, as the MAGA base did not exist then. So when Phil Robertson did not allow the LGBTQ marketing machine to intimidate him, as much as leftist activists tried to do, he undoubtedly inspired an untold number of other Bible-believing Christians to be just as rock-solid in standing up for righteous convictions.

It is critically important to also recognize why the marriage debate matters most: children.

God designed the family unit to have both biological parents raise children together and ensure the safety and protection of their own offspring. But because of the secular Left’s handy-work in the 1960s, which incentivized out-of-wedlock pregnancies through federal welfare programs — known as the so-called Great Society — too many children have been raised in fatherless homes, subjected to drugs and sexual abuse, and all sorts of other treacherous circumstances as a result. But that’s not all. One of the key reasons for why children have been targeted and subjected to the Left’s godless propaganda campaign to sexualize children’s minds and their bodies is because kids lack their father’s protection.

In fact, most of America’s social ills can easily be traced back to fatherless homes as the root cause of our cultural problems. And the attacks today on natural marriage and school children is from the same thread that ran through the ’60s sexual revolution and used federal welfare as proxy to hurt the nuclear family.

So whether or not the Gaines’s and the Utah Chick-fil-A franchise want to recognize or deny it, when they take a stand in support of same-sex “marriage,” they are aligning with the same side that is responsible for the placement of pornographic materials in school libraries, children being subjected to drag queen story hours and the transgender movement. It is all intertwined. (The fact that The Daily Beast praised the Gaines for normalizing homosexuality on their Magnolia Network says it all.)

It comes down to this: America needs to see more of Kayleigh Bush’s bravery. And as someone who had the real privilege of meeting Phil Robertson when I ran for U.S. Senate in the state of Louisiana, I have no doubt that Mr. Robertson would be mighty proud of her. As we all should be.
