Pro-Trans Liberal Pays Big for Calling Opponent a ‘Nazi,’ and More: The Stories You Missed

December 13, 2024

The legacy media have seemingly taken Christmas vacation early, turning the consequential stories of December into an excuse to write mash notes about Luigi Mangione’s abs. In the last few days, a liberal politician faces millions of dollars in legal fees for calling a female legislator who opposes extreme gender ideology a “Nazi.” A new report on the abortion industry provides additional evidence that pro-life laws save lives and reveals how Planned Parenthood’s expanding business model means the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) should defund it.

Here are the stories you missed.

1. Victory: Pro-Parental Rights Politician Wins Defamation Suit against Pro-Trans Lawmaker Who Called Her a ‘Nazi’

An Australian politician will pay big for defaming a lawmaker who rejects transgender radicalism as a “Nazi.” A judge ruled Thursday that Victorian Liberal Party leader John Pesutto must pay $300,000 to MP Moira Deeming — but his economic damage will be far more extensive.

Deeming won election to the Victorian Legislative Council as a member of the Liberal Party (which, in Australia, is the more conservative party as compared to the Labour Party). Her first speech in parliament showed her dedication to parental rights, women’s privacy, and protecting children from the transgender movement. In March 2023, she took part in a “Let Women Speak” rally in Melbourne, featuring former actress Posie Parker (Kellie-Jay Keen).

That rally was gatecrashed by a group of neo-Nazis — much the way conservative events have been raided by the shadowy, little-known group calling itself The Patriot Front. The Lincoln Project has also sent paid actors cosplaying neo-Nazis to crash an event hosted by Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin (R).

Pesutto seized on the event to accuse Deeming of “associating with” and offering “help” to Nazis and moved to expel her from the Liberal Party. The Sydney Morning Herald reports Pesutto was “fuelled by a ‘preoccupation’ with the political advantage the then premier, Daniel Andrews, would extract from the episode.” He began a media campaign to drum Deeming out of the party that became so effective that, at one point, Deeming’s young children began saying, “My mum’s a Nazi.” This May, Deeming’s fellow Liberal Party legislators voted 19-11 to expel her from the Liberal Party; she now serves as an independent MP and sits on the crossbench.

Federal Court Justice David O’Callaghan ruled that Pesutto had committed defamation by “using mass media to communicate a message to the general public in Victoria, to cause serious harm to Mrs. Deeming’s reputation. That is especially so in circumstances where the leader of her own Parliamentary party was moving for her expulsion from it.”

A source “close to the case” told The Herald Sun that Pesutto turned down an offer to settle for $99,000, only to lose a ruling three times that much. With legal fees, the source said, Pesutto faces $2 million over his “Nazi” remarks.

“I am just so delighted with today’s result, and I am very grateful to the court for their prompt consideration. I just want to say thank you to everybody who stood by me and we’re just going to get out there and continue to get back sex-based rights for women and child safeguards for children,” said Deming after the ruling.

Pesutto has refused to resign his leadership post over his self-inflicted humiliation. Liberal Party legislators are currently weighing how to proceed.

It is welcome news that no one — not even a prominent provincial party leader — can slur pro-family politicians with impunity.

2. Even More Proof Pro-Life Laws Work

More evidence verifies that pro-life laws save lives, not merely by preventing all abortions, but by limiting the time during which they may be carried out. The data come from the annual abortion facility survey from Operation Rescue.

“Nearly one-third (30%) of abortion [facilities] commit surgical abortions at 20 weeks or later,” notes the report tragically. “Thirty-seven percent of abortion [facilities] limit the gestational age to 13.9 weeks and under for surgical abortions. However, it should be noted that heartbeat protection laws in four states drive up the number in that category considerably, especially in Florida, which currently has the third highest number of abortion [facilities] — all of which are now required to limit abortions to far less than 14 weeks.”

Based on this comment, we see the abortion industry would gladly extend abortion to the moment of birth. Even incremental approaches toward the ultimate goal of protecting all babies in law make a difference, by denying abortionists their goal of committing abortion until birth.

But the report shows the opposite is also true: A lack of legal protections for the unborn jeopardizes older and older babies. “Of the 36 states with legalized abortion, 25%,” or nine states, “house one or more [facilities] that commit abortions beyond the maximum gestational age documented in 2023,” it says.

The report noted that states with fewer abortion facilities, such as Utah, have higher costs — apparently indicating another way in which pro-life laws save lives.

3. Planned Parenthood Is Cornering the Market on Abortion (and Transgender Shots)

A silent business revolution is taking place within the abortion industry, as Planned Parenthood has slowly moved to corner the abortion market — as well as to branch out into sterilizing treatments for adolescents under the cover of transgender “care.” The pro-life group Operation Rescue reports annually on the number of abortion facilities opening and closing. While the overall number fell by three this year — and has declined 69% since 1990 — more and more of the nation’s abortion facilities carry the Planned Parenthood label:

“Planned Parenthood comprised less than half (45%) of the 29 abortion clinic closures in 2024 and the bulk (70%) of the 46 clinics that either opened, reopened, or resumed abortions. The abortion giant is more capable of enduring financial hardship due to the massive amount of taxpayer funding it receives. …

“As a result, Planned Parenthood increased its market share of abortion clinics nationwide from 54% in 2023 to 58% in 2024.”

The report also contained additional details on its marketing model of murder and mutilation.

“On average, Planned Parenthood charges 11% less for surgical abortions and 4% less for pills when administered in person. However, the taxpayer-funded abortion giant charges 14% more than privately owned clinics for telemed/mail-order pills,” says the report. This reflects Planned Parenthood’s carefully crafted business strategy: Undercut competitors on the most expensive procedures, while padding profits with abortion pills, the greatest industry growth “product.”

In addition to maintaining its status as the nation’s largest abortion franchise, Planned Parenthood continued its penetration into the highly lucrative transgender industry. In all, 45 of Planned Parenthood’s 49 affiliates carry out cross-sex hormone injections on adults — and minors — who identify as transgender.

Independent abortionists have long complained about Planned Parenthood opening new abortion facilities in “their” territory, marketing to their customers, and putting them out of business. Perhaps Trump’s anti-monopoly division should investigate.

Meanwhile, Planned Parenthood’s market penetration shows it can easily withstand losing federal funding, as DOGE founders Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy have threatened.
