Harris-Walz Campaign Accepts Donation from CCP-Linked Business Executive
A letter from a consumer activist organization has revealed that Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign accepted a $50,000 contribution from a Chinese national who works as an executive for BYD, a Chinese electric car company that has close ties with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Experts say the contribution is the latest example of how the CCP is attempting to infiltrate the upper echelons of the U.S. government.
The letter, which was written by the Driving Force Action PAC on October 11, expressed concern that the Harris campaign accepted a $50,000 donation from Stella Ke Li, a senior executive for the Chinese electric vehicle company BYD. As the letter described, BYD has received “substantial support from the Chinese government through direct subsidies and military-civil fusion initiatives.” The letter went on to note that the company “collaborates with military affiliates on significant projects, including data aggregation from vehicles and technology sharing with state-owned enterprises.” The letter further pointed out that Ke Li “appears to be married to Wang Chuanfu, BYD’s founder and a prominent CCP member.”
The revelation is the latest in a string of controversial ties between the communist regime and the Harris-Walz campaign that have come to light in recent months. On Tuesday, reports surfaced revealing that Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz welcomed a group of three “educators” from China into the classroom where he taught social studies at Alliance High School in Nebraska in 1996 in order to “study the education system.” It was later discovered that the delegation “included CCP officials who at the time worked for an institute serving a Chinese influence and intelligence agency.”
The report adds a further example of Walz’s already established ties to the communist regime. In August, details emerged about the Minnesota governor taking at least 12 personal trips to China while serving in the National Guard, as well as past statements sympathizing with socialism and an alleged fascination with the teachings of Mao Zedong, the CCP founder whose policies are responsible for the deaths of approximately 40 to 80 million Chinese citizens during his 33-year tenure as CCP chairman.
In addition, a Daily Caller investigation published last month found that Walz “appointed a member of a political faction that has pledged loyalty to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to a state board that advises the government on Asian-American affairs.”
The extent of Walz’s relationship with the CCP became so concerning that House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) sent a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray in August requesting information on “any Chinese entity or individual with whom Mr. Walz may have engaged or partnered.” Comer went on to tell the Daily Caller that Walz’s “documented relationships with Chinese Communist Party-affiliated entities and officials bears hallmarks of a CCP infiltration and influence campaign.”
In comments to The Washington Stand, Gordon Chang, distinguished senior fellow at the Gatestone Institute, expressed concern that the CCP-linked contribution to the Harris-Walz campaign is opening the door for the communist regime to exert further influence on Harris and Walz if they are elected.
“No candidate should accept Chinese Communist Party-linked funds,” he underscored. “The CCP uses every point of contact to take down our country, so we must sever its sources of influence, including campaign contributions.”
“The vice president, therefore, should return these funds to Stella Ke Li immediately,” Chang added. “By the way, we now know whom Beijing favors in this election, and I’m not particularly surprised.”
