Here’s What World Leaders Are Saying about Trump’s 2024 Win

November 6, 2024

World leaders from all around the globe are offering their congratulations to former President Donald J. Trump after his historic victory in the 2024 presidential election.

Among the first to praise the president-elect was Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “Dear Donald and Melania Trump,” he wrote on X, “Congratulations on history’s greatest comeback! Your historic return to the White House offers a new beginning for America and a powerful recommitment to the great alliance between Israel and America. This is a huge victory! In true friendship, yours, Benjamin and Sara Netanyahu.” Several other leaders chimed in on the social media platform as well.

From France, the country’s President Emmanuel Macron posted, “Congratulations, President [Donald Trump]. Ready to work together as we did for four years. With your convictions and mine. With respect and ambition. For more peace and prosperity.” Following this was a message from Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán: “The biggest comeback in US political history!” He went on to refer to the election outcome as an “enormous win” and “a much needed victory for the World!”

The support continued across the English Channel and into the United Kingdom, where British Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated, “Congratulations President-elect Trump on your historic election victory. I look forward to working with you in the years ahead.” He added, “As the closest of allies, we stand shoulder to shoulder in defense of our shared values of freedom, democracy and enterprise. From growth and security to innovation and tech, I know that the UK-US special relationship will continue to prosper on both sides of the Atlantic for years to come.”

Notably, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also voiced his support. This comes as he continues to defend his country in the war with Russia, which Trump promised to end. Zelensky posted on X, “Congratulations to [Trump] on his impressive election victory! I recall our great meeting with President Trump back in September, when we discussed in detail the Ukraine-U.S. strategic partnership, the Victory Plan, and ways to put an end to Russian aggression against Ukraine.” He emphasized his appreciation of “President Trump’s commitment to the ‘peace through strength’ approach in global affairs,” which he described as “the principle that can practically bring just peace in Ukraine closer.”

Zelensky added that he is “hopeful,” and that he looks “forward to an era of a strong United States of America under President Trump’s decisive leadership.” As the Ukrainian president noted, “We rely on continued strong bipartisan support for Ukraine in the United States,” and “we are interested in developing mutually beneficial political and economic cooperation that will benefit both of our nations.”

Now, as world leaders voice their support and their expectations for a future under Trump’s leadership, experts in the U.S. are adding their hopes to the mix. “President Trump’s foreign affairs policies will no doubt be a critical effort in his administration, and one that is very critical to the future of our nation,” said Family Research Council’s Executive Vice President Lt. General (Ret.) Jerry Boykin in a comment to The Washington Stand. “I would hope that he would recognize the necessity to take a strong policy position regarding China, North Korea, Russia, and Iran.”

The general continued, “Those four nations have become a cohort of very dangerous enemies of America, and they will require a lot of thought and counsel to implement what we hope would be an effective plan at reducing the risk of going to war with them.” As for Trump’s future leadership in foreign policy, Boykin explained that it would benefit America to go back to becoming “energy independent.” At “first blush,” he explained, it “may not sound like a foreign policy issue. But if you think about it, it really is.” Largely because “it would allow us to be an exporter and not an importer, which always creates a dilemma for the United States when we are depending upon another nation, particularly those that are not considered allies of America.”

Luciano Bongarra, president of Parlamento & Fe International based in Argentina, also weighed in with TWS. Bongarra emphasized, “I have come to understand that politics requires an understanding of the dynamics of how events unfold.” With this in mind, he added, “I am convinced that Donald Trump’s victory will have a global impact that is greater than what much of the world imagines.”

He continued, “The wars that have been waged for years, along with the fragility of international organizations, require a leadership that I believe this new administration is capable of carrying out.” He further noted that “the first few months” of Trump’s administration “will be key.” However, Bongarra explained that “the church will be playing a fundamental role during this time.”

Moving forward, “the only thing that concerns me is the possibility of the faith community not understanding its role, thus the opportunity being lost,” he elaborated. As Bongarra reflected, “No man is able solve a weak global situation if he does not recognize his limitations and allow God to work in his life, not only through his actions but through a genuine surrender of his life to Jesus Christ.”

FRC’s Vice President for Policy and Government Affairs Travis Weber added that his hope and prayer for the country under the new administration to come is for a return to biblical values. “Our increasingly unsteady, uncertain, and chaotic world is creating a vacuum that is just begging for clear but firm moral leadership to step into the gap,” he told TWS. “With President Trump’s election, we have an opportunity for a foreign policy ‘reset’ and a reintroduction of American leadership on the global stage — offering what many are seeking: freedom, prosperity, and flourishing in a way that is consistent with their values.”

According to Weber, rather than “arrogantly and coercively jamming culturally imperialist LGBT and abortion policies down the throats of every unwilling African nation that crosses our path, the U.S. government should be known for hearing the needs of people at the family and local level around the world, and seeking what we can do to help.” This “may include,” he added, “providing a positive, pro-family vision for U.S. foreign policy and foreign assistance, aiding individuals and families, and providing an alternative to globally imposed, culturally elite policies dictated from on high by the UN, WHO, and other global entities that are proving” how “entirely tone-deaf and opposed” they are “to the needs of people at the ground level.” America needs to be an example of “a welcoming, supporting, and protecting attitude toward life and families,” he emphasized.

Weber continued, “In a world in which nations are known for being petty, miserly, and self-protective, a generous life and family-affirming approach will shine ever more brightly to those around us. Such an approach is entirely consistent with President Trump’s proven willingness to buck global elites and the institutions backing them — institutions which are often directly at odds with the freedom, interests, and sovereignty of individual nation states around the world.”

He concluded, “May the next four years usher in a global reset led by the United States in favor of families and their freedom!”
