‘Washington Watch with Tony Perkins’ wins NRB’s People’s Choice Award

June 10, 2023

Washington Watch with Tony Perkins,” which airs on nine television networks and more than 800 radio stations nationwide, was named the top program in the news category at the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) International Christian Media Convention’s 2023 TV Showcase.

“Washington Watch” was one of more than 50 programs that submitted entries for the TV Showcase, which took place May 22 in Orlando, Florida. Entries were presented to program directors and station managers from across the nation who then voted for the top program in 11 categories.

“I applaud Tony Perkins and his team at ‘Washington Watch’ for producing a program that rose to the top among this year’s incredible entries — as is evident from winning the People’s Choice Award in the news category,” commented Lee Miller, chair of the TV Showcase and a member of the National Religious Broadcasters’ TV Standing Committee.

“‘Washington Watch’ has advanced by leaps and bounds over the past couple of years,” added Troy Miller, president & CEO of NRBTV, one of the television networks that carries “Washington Watch.” “And Tony Perkins has been a strong and much-needed voice at a time when conservative and biblical viewpoints are being marginalized and silenced.”

“Washington Watch with Tony Perkins” is a production of Family Research Council (FRC), a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit research and educational organization with a mission “to serve in the kingdom of God by championing faith, family, and freedom in public policy and the culture from a biblical worldview.” In addition to providing policy research and analysis for the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of the federal government, FRC seeks to inform the news media, the academic community, business leaders, and the general public about family issues that affect the nation from a biblical worldview.

“Washington Watch” features the news of the day and interviews with leaders, experts, and newsmakers, including members of Congress and other government officials at the federal, state, and local levels. The topics discussed are timely, critical, and thought-provoking. The news is presented and analyzed through a biblical perspective, and action items and next steps are presented so that viewers come away from the program not only knowing more but better equipped to engage in society and to make a difference for Christ.

“Tony Perkins and Washington Watch provide a unique voice of truth,” said Keeley Brooks, CEO/COO at LIFTABLEtv, one of the television networks that carries “Washington Watch.” “Tony will always point viewers and listeners back to a biblical worldview, which should be applauded with so many other programs caving to the demands of culture. It’s one of my personal favorite programs on the platform, knowing that I can hear today’s news and facts through a biblical worldview lens.”

Since starting off on radio as a weekly program nearly 20 years ago, “Washington Watch” has continuously grown — developing into a daily program and then expanding its reach to television in April 2021. Today, the one-hour program airs every weekday on more than 800 radio stations across the nation, including on Bott Radio Network, American Family Radio, and CSN International, among others. Television networks carrying “Washington Watch” include NRBTV, HisChannel Broadcasting Network, AUN-TV, FISM TV, LIFTABLEtv, theDove TV, COACB, AFA Streaming, and Real Life Network. The program is also streamed live on the web during the 5 p.m. ET hour at TonyPerkins.com and on Facebook.
