We live in an age of impatience where a two-day delay on an Amazon package stirs the desire to leave a negative online review. Despite whatever our daily irritations may be, granddaughter of the late evangelical giant Billy Graham and President Donald Trump’s new nominee for Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom Cissie Graham Lynch says that Christians are commanded to praise God, which changes the posture of their hearts. 

In her upcoming book, “Stand Steady: Fearless Faith in a Compromising Culture,” Lynch explores the biblical truths of womanhood and the importance of choosing to praise Him. “I think I saw the world selling a counterfeit strength to women, and I think the world has lied to women. And so often, the church has weakened women,” Lynch contended in an appearance on “Washington Watch with Tony Perkins” Wednesday. 

“There’s a lot of amazing churches out there, and I don’t want to criticize all churches. But what I mean by that is [that] I would go to some of these conferences, these women’s conferences, and I would leave empty [because] there was very minimal Bible teaching. And so, I felt like the church is not teaching women God’s word. And that is the only thing we are going to be able to have to stand in this world. … I want women to be able to stand in strength no matter what’s to come.”

Lynch wrote the book in the aftermath of the overturning of Roe v. Wade and at time when there is confusion surrounding the definition of a woman. “I want [us] to be women who can stand with a peaceful assurance, no matter the storms that we face, no matter the cancel culture we’ll face [or] the spiritual warfare that we’ll have. I want a peaceful assurance. That’s what I saw in my grandmother, Ruth Graham, and my grandparents. And I realize a lot of people haven’t had those examples.”

Lynch continued that a believer’s identity is in Christ, and that Christians can decide the path they will follow. “In Revelation, we get a choice between two cities: Babylon, the world, or the bride of Christ, the New Jerusalem. And I want to encourage the next generation because we don’t know what the future holds. We don’t know what happens with our religious freedom here in the future in America that we’ve held so precious, that no matter what we face, I want a peaceful assurance [for] these women and men, that we stand with the bride of Christ.”

Earlier this week, Trump nominated Lynch to become the U.S. ambassador at large for International Religious Freedom. During the president’s first term, Lynch served on the Executive Evangelical Advisory Board of the Faith Advisory Council. Additionally, she spoke at the 2020 Republican National Convention.

Lynch currently works as a senior advisor and spokesperson for Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA). She is also the host of the “Fearless with Cissie Graham Lynch” podcast. 

Her father Franklin Graham, the president of Samaritan’s Purse and the BGEA, took to X to share about his daughter’s nomination: “President Donald J. Trump has nominated my daughter Cissie Graham Lynch to serve as the United States Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom. Cissie is uniquely qualified for this — she has traveled the world and been a student of this issue for many years. She has a broad worldview and knowledge of the issues facing religious freedom today. If confirmed by the Senate, she will bring a passion for defending religious freedom to this office. I couldn’t be more proud of her, and I ask you to pray that God would give her wisdom and strength.”

“Stand Steady: Fearless Faith in a Compromising Culture” is set to be released on October 13.
