It's been one of the Democrats' greatest self-delusions of this election cycle that voters are somehow indifferent to the party's wild leftward lurch. "Let me tell you what I'm hearing," House Minority Whip Katherine Clark (D-Mass.) said on CNN's "The Situation Room." "The American people don't care about these [socialism] labels. They don't care about a created inter-Democratic party fight. ...They want people who are going to work for them." Unfortunately for Clark, people aren't just perplexed by the growing influence of the Democratic Socialists in U.S. politics - they're sincerely disturbed. If there's one thing people appreciate (sometimes begrudgingly) about Donald Trump, it's that he doesn't put much stock in public opinion. He makes decisions - popular and unpopular - regardless of what anyone thinks or how the media overreacts. If Americans don't like it, too bad. If the Left tries to cancel, jail, or impeach him, fine. Unlike most politicians in the modern age, this president is his own man - with the exception of one issue: abortion.
