Bernie Sanders Thanks Trans-Identified Singer Who Belts Out Blasphemous Tune

March 11, 2025

Over the weekend, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), the most popular Democratic presidential hopeful of the last decade, thanked a trans-identifying musician for belting out a blasphemous song that accused God of rape, demeaned the Crucifixion, and insulted the Virgin Mary.

The lead singer of the group Against Me! — a man born Tom Gabel, who now calls himself “Laura Jane Grace” — put the “punk” in punk rocker when he debuted his new single, “Your God (God’s D**k)” at the Bernie Sanders “Fighting Oligarchy” rally in Kenosha, Wisconsin, last Friday, March 7.

“Does your God have a big, fat [organ]? ‘Cause it feels like He’s f****** me!” grunted “Grace” gracelessly. The rest of the sloppy lyrics formed a litany of mishmashed heresy, LGBTQ fetishism, and anti-Christian bile attacking the Bible’s scientifically accurate view of biological sex. The song portrayed God engaging in sodomy and “other kinks,” mocked the Virgin Mary, and besmirched the Crucifixion by conflating Christ being hung on a cross with a slang biological term. (You can read more of the lyrics, if you have the stomach, here.)

Perceptive observers viewed this pro-trans, anti-Christian blasphemy at a socialist rally as a window into the far-Left’s deepest political fantasies which, like their sexual fetishes, they would like to normalize at the national level. “Much of the [L]eft has a fundamental hatred for Christians, families, and children. They seek to defile, undermine, mock, and destroy it all. Do not forget this,” advised detransitioner Chloe Cole, one of the victims of the transgender cultural revolution. Rep. Greg Murphy (R-N.C.) said the performance indicated America is passing through “biblical times.”

“This is who the Democrats are now. Pure evil,” wrote Robby Starbuck.

The outburst was far from unforeseeable. The title track of one of Against Me!’s top-selling albums, “White Crosses,” is about tearing down crosses erected by churches to commemorate aborted children. The lyrics state, “White crosses on the church lawn, I want to smash them all! I want to smash them all!” Pro-abortion activists regularly desecrate crosses and other pro-life displays, sometimes accelerating to threatening reporters with a machete).

Yet Sanders’s handlers invited the singer to open his rally and, after he took the stage, Sanders personally thanked Gabel for his performance.

Battling Bernie’s Blasphamy and Beltway Blindness

Having seen this blasphemous display, a Beltway GOP-aligned acquaintance asked, in essence: Who cares? Don’t conservatives expect that from Bernie Sanders? Why even address one political event on its own?

The obvious answer to anyone with common sense is: No. The American people don’t expect, and will not accept, the promotion of blasphemy from any politician or his representatives.

Even having to state this fact aloud confirms America’s decades-long project of defining deviancy downward.

Perhaps no one encapsulated the nation’s moral devolution as well as Leadership Institute Founder Morton Blackwell. In the 1964 presidential race, he noted there was no policy difference between ultra-liberal Democrat Lyndon B. Johnson and conservative Republican Barry Goldwater on abortion, same-sex marriage, or transgenderism: Neither politician would have dreamed of endorsing these issues. “What we now call social issues were not political issues” in Andy Griffith’s America, said Blackwell moments after Family Research Council President Tony Perkins honored him with the Values and Leadership Award at the 2012 Values Voters Summit. “Abortion and monogamous marriage between one man and one woman were among the many settled legal and moral issues of American culture.”

In 1972, the notion that the Democratic presidential candidate George McGovern supported “acid, amnesty, and abortion” handed Richard Nixon a 49-state landslide. (The eponymous phrase emphasizing the New Left’s radical stance on cultural issues came, not from Pat Buchanan, Bill Safire, or others on Nixon’s stellar speechwriting staff, but from a Democrat: McGovern’s first running mate, Thomas Eagleton.) Yet by 2025, the presidential hopeful who would have won the last three Democratic primaries had the DNC been committed to preserving “Our Democracy,” Bernie Sanders, hosts events accusing God of committing anal rape.

In between, a Michigan Democratic staffer posted a Satanic prayer alongside a photo of herself kissing a “sexy Satanic” statue at the state capitol. The Biden-Harris administration doled out a grant forcing taxpayers to fund a podcast that promotes Satanism, Santeria, and animal sacrifice. The “god” most praised in song at the 2023 Grammys was the prince of darkness. And the presidential candidate the Democratic Party undemocratically forced on its rank-and-file, Kamala Harris, scolded Christians who believe “Christ is King” and “Jesus is Lord” condescendingly, “You guys are at the wrong rally.”

Immorality has flourished to the point that even Beltway Christians cannot recognize its significance.

The Evil Party and the Stupid Party

The fact that Democrats have tripled-down on transgenderism, an 80-20 issue, does not prove the Left has “learned nothing” from the last election. It also proves conservatives have learned nothing from the last five decades.

The Left doesn’t need voters to agree with its principles; indeed, it would prefer voters remain in the dark about them. The Left doesn’t necessarily need to win elections; after all, only five people voted to impose same-sex marriage on all 50 states 10 years ago this summer. The Left simply needs to get its hands on power. Democratic presidential candidates present themselves as Born Again Christians, uniters, or simple folks from Scranton. They promise moderation, as the legacy media drown out any reports about their radical agenda. The moment they gain power, they unleash a cultural revolution inside government. And the Gramscian education-infotainment complex drafts your children as their janissaries, to fight and win the battle against moral order in the next generation.

Between elections, Democrats like Sanders are not ignorantly doubling down on a losing agenda. They are defiantly vowing to foist an unpopular ideology on an unwilling populace — as they have again, and again, and again, while Beltway conservatives insist these outbursts really mean very little.

In the meantime, the Left continues its cultural degeneration, aided by dismissive Beltway Republican operatives, who shrug their shoulders, scoff at those in the heartland offended by such “non-issues,” and watch stolidly as the undertow of the Left pulls the culture — and their loved ones — further away. They wonder, in their rare reflective moments, why they almost always lose. But they soon return to their complacent conceits that, this time, their ideas and tactics will prevail. No wonder one wag has observed, “We have an Evil Party and a Stupid Party. And if something is really evil and stupid, we call it bipartisan.”

Unlike the tide, there is nothing natural about American cultural degeneration. Big Pharma seeks new, lifelong customers for its products (and even with American levels of obesity, not everyone will be taking Ozempic). So, the industry invests enough money to prime the pump. At the top, Big Pharma funds “gender studies” departments to teach, first that men and women’s role are interchangeable in the home and society; then, that men and women are interchangeable atop a wedding cake; then, that male and female anatomy is literally interchangeable. At the bottom, Big Pharma billionaires fund the “grassroots” LGBTQ pressure groups and “trans activists” who consider “Laura Jane Grace” courageous. In between, Big Pharma funds politicians (including Bernie Sanders) and constitutes the largest advertiser on network and cable TV news, wielding an influential lever over the tone and content of network coverage.

Thankfully, the Stupid Party may be smartening up. No issue so drove swing voters into their column in 2024 than extreme gender ideology. If the GOP won’t feel the heat from its grassroots voters, perhaps it will see the light of political victories.

As Democrats like California Governor Gavin Newsom deceptively back away from the issue, the DNC remains mired in a deep level of unreality — an unreality all its exponents, including Newsom, will try to bring to life. For his party, Sanders has not responded to media requests for comment but put out a public statement asserting he represents the American majority.

“We’re going to win,” forecast Sanders.

If the transgender blasphemy movement sweeps America, it will be a bipartisan act of the Evil and the Stupid parties.
